If I take my finger off the power shuts. I bought this off several months back thinking will need it but ended up using the small hand held shrink gun. I know very little about this product and will try to answer you the best can.

I don't see how this can work 'hands free. To operate this heat gum I have keep my finger pressed onto the on switch. Honestly I am not sure how this model function, or if there is a defect.
