1. Cost-effective: Recast/Repro versions are typically cheaper than original parts, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.
2. Availability: These recast/repro parts are often more readily available than original parts, especially for older or hard-to-find models.
3. Functional: In many cases, the recast/repro parts function similarly to the original parts, providing the necessary power and reliability for your engine.
Cons:1. Quality Concerns: Recast/repro parts may not meet the same quality standards as original parts. This could lead to issues such as premature wear, failure, or reduced performance.
2. Compatibility: There might be slight variations in dimensions or materials that could cause compatibility issues with your engine or other components.
3. Warranty: Original parts often come with a manufacturer's warranty, which is not typically available for recast/repro parts.
4. Resale Value: If you plan to sell your vehicle in the future, using recast/repro parts could potentially lower its resale value.
Conclusion: While a recast/repro 2N190 Fuller Johnson Hitachi Engine Magneto Bracket can save you money and provide a functional solution, it's crucial to weigh the potential quality and compatibility issues against your budget and needs. If you prioritize original quality and warranty, it might be worth investing in an original part. However, if you're working on a tight budget or need a hard-to-find part, a recast/repro part could be a viable option, especially if you're willing to perform a thorough inspection and adjustment after installation. Always ensure to purchase from a reputable seller to minimize the risk of receiving subpar parts.
I have a recast repro of new magneto bracket for 3 or 5 hp Fuller and Johnson engine model n, k, na as per the parts book original came off my. This is a recast. Needs two small oil holes drillers as well the gear shaft hole drilled. It might fit other older n model engines that came with an Elkhart mag, but you be the judge.
This one bolts on the left hand main crankshaft bearing cap. Very east to do with a drill or mill. See pics and you decide. Very nice quality casting.
